If there’s one thing I really look forward to on the weekends,
it’s BRUNCH. I’ve always been a fan of a solid brunch menu (with a side of mimosas). I had the chance to check out the new brunch menu at one of my favorite spots, Faith & Flower, in downtown LA recently. There are so many brunch spots spread throughout the vast city of Angels, but only a handful of them can get me coming back for more. I’d been to Faith & Flower once before to try out their dinner menu. They had an interesting selection of dishes including oxtail agnolotti and a 9 oz grilled foie gras. Both of which I ordered my first time there, and was not disappointed. When I went back for brunch, I learned that they had just redone their menu. I stopped by with Ellen and we shared four dishes. Bourbon pancakes, smoked trout benedict, kimchee cornbread, and prime beef picadillo. All four dishes were recommended by a few staff members, and we were definitely impressed. The pancakes were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of sweetness. I’m not a huge fan of sweet breakfast dishes, so this was perfect for me. The picadillo was a nice surprise. I wasn’t familiar with the dish, but it’s almost like a Spanish version of a hash. The flavors of the beef, rice, and egg made for a perfect breakfast combination. Especially for a rice lover like me. The cornbread was probably my most favorite of the four. I love corn, and I love bread. It also sat in a pool of rich and creamy mozzarella sauce. I, pretty much, ate that as my entree and treated the others like a side. Lastly would be the benedict. I’d have to say it wasn’t my favorite out of the four. I normally love a benedict on any brunch menu, but smoked salmon is always a bit too salty for my tongue. It was tasty, nonetheless. All in all, I’d have to give Faith & Flower all the credit they deserve. I love the ambiance and even their touch of antique plates and silverware. A small detail that I definitely appreciated. Check out their website HERE and be sure to pop in for their new brunch menu!
