Austin, Texas baby! Had the pleasure of visiting Austin for a second time a few weeks ago. It’s definitely one of my favorite cities in America. I’m not lying when I say that Texas barbeque changed my life. I was invited back to Texas with the Fairmont Austin hotel. I had the most incredible experience there. Whenever I’m traveling, I’m ALL about the food experiences, and they did not disappoint. We kicked off the weekend with an amazing dinner at the Garrison, one of the top restaurants in Austin (which just so happens to be located inside the Fairmont!). This dinner was really incredible, and it was the perfect way to kick off our stay.
We checked in on the 35th floor which was specific for Fairmont Gold reservations. It had an upscale feel, with superb service. Not to mention the free snacks/coffee bar located in their gold lounge! They even had complimentary breakfast every morning with a killer omelette station. The best way to start our days.
The next day we headed out on a sotol and beer tasting. Josh, LOVES sotol, so he was super excited about that one. If you haven’t had sotol, it’s sort of like a cousin of mezcal. We visited Desert Door and got a tour of the distillery and sampled some of their amazing cocktails. Then we popped over to Vista Brewing, and got to try some of their local brews while we munched on some farm to table lunch.
We had a lot of free time to explore the city on our own. Josh and I went to Torchy’s, Taco Deli, Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, and Terry Black’s just to name a few. Lots of queso dip was consumed this trip, and I ain’t mad about it. One of the days, we got to attend Austin City Limits. It was the highlight of the trip! I rarely ever go to any festivals outside of California, and it was such a fun experience. We ended the trip with a luxurious spa day at the Fairmont Austin Spa. I got a 50 minute massage which was perfect post festival. Followed by a pool day in the afternoon. We all congregated by the pool cabanas for some lunch. I swear, the Fairmont Austin has the best pool in Austin. Huge thanks to the Fairmont Austin for planning such an amazing weekend for us. I fell more in love with Austin the second time around. It’s rare for me to feel a need to revisit a city, but Austin is high up on my list. Will definitely be back again soon!
